Loaded247 to cease trading R1 titles
I've been reliably informed that Loaded247, the supplier of most of DVD Times' Region 1 review copies, are to stop selling US DVDs within the next couple of months. That leaves DVD Times in a somewhat awkward position regarding coverage of the US releases, and is sure to be a great disappointment to anyone like me who uses them to source titles that will be over the customs limit. Therefore, if you intend to pick up any such titles from them in the next few weeks, I'd advise you to do it sooner rather than later. If you live down south, they're having a massive clear-out at their UK headquarters at 5 Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne, on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May between 9am and 6pm. It's of the "everything must go" variety, apparently, and the prices look pretty desperate.

Damn it, I am venturing up North to Blackpool this weekend for a typical British rainy Bank holiday!
Otherwise I would have gone along ready to stuff my audio-visual belly with discounted Region 1 DVD's. Oh well.
If anyone does get some great giallo, horror or cinema classics leave a comment and make me jealous!

That's a pity. Like you, I tend to only use them when there are Customs issues (they were great for Warner box sets) so perhaps that was the problem - their prices weren't competitive enough on most releases. Plus they stocked Canadian R1s, and I'm a fussy git about bilingual packaging.
At least there's still Play USA.

Are Play USA customs safe? They weren't last time I ordered from them (which was admittedly a long time ago).

They're unpredictable - their terms and conditions say the buyer may be responsible for Customs duties, but in practice they often seem to circumvent the problem by shipping from within the EU. I've been caught out a couple of times, but generally not.
