Podcasting plagiarism
Last night, I came across Mondo Movie, a site featuring podcast reviews of various genre movies. Impressed by the extracts I sampled, I decided to download a bunch of them and listen to them while I was at work this morning. All was going fine until I came to their review of The Fifth Cord, and was shocked to discover that they had used the plot synopsis of my review from DVD Times. Now, personally, I'm rather relieved that they didn't steal my entire review, but nonetheless I'm not exactly thrilled that these two fellows decided to rely on my review rather than doing the work and writing their own plot synopsis. The chappie reading it out even manages to mispronounce "irascible", clearly giving away the fact that he didn't write these words.Luckily for them, I have enough of a sense of humour to not be wanting legs to be broken and genitals to be torched. Instead, Lyris has put together a humorous video illustrating Mondo Movie's theft. Guys, a word of advice: don't try this again.
Update, 9:42 on June 08, 2006: Ben from Mondo Movie has contacted me to apologise for using the paragraph from my review and has said that he will mention this in the next podcast. Since he's been so honest about it, I'm not going to be taking any further action regarding this matter.
