Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 3, Episode 7: Revelations
Written by Douglas Petrie; Directed by James A. ContnerOnce again, enjoyable stuff. Not as good as Band Candy, but still an impressive debut for a new writer, and one that manages to do a lot with the various character arcs while still serving pretty well as a stand-alone episode. That said, I must admit that Gwen Post has always bugged me - not only do the Watchers' Council fail to inform Giles that there is a rogue Watcher on the loose, she is also accepted by him without any evidence of her having proven her credentials. Still, the plot that develops out of it is good enough that I'm willing to let it slide. Oh, and is it just me, or were the special effects in this episode considerably better than those of the previous week?
Overall rating: 8/10.
Next time: Lover's Walk.

The thing that bugs me the most is that this is the point where the "Scooby Gang" turns into exclusive elite mode, I mean how Faith is being treated by all of them really makes me feel bad and sympathize with her when she turns evil.
Besides that, that's one of my favourite episodes, Buffy's confrontation with the scooby gang, her first fight against Faith and the effect-laden finale are all high-points. I'd give it 9 out of 10 :-)

Oh, I forgot to praise Doug Petrie - I think he definitely is the reason why Faith is such a great character and a lot of people's favourite.

Good call with Petrie, Kamyar. He clearly loves the Faith character a great deal, as you can tell from any of his commentaries on Faith-centric episodes. I definitely think he got bored of the regular characters as the show progressed, though, as can be seen by truly mundane episodes like Season 7's aptly titled Get it Done. It's too bad Tim Minear's Faith spin-off never came to fruition, as I'm sure he would have been a writer on it and delivered some really great stuff.
