The new UK release from Tartan is a big step up compared to the earlier US release (there, never thought I'd ever say that, did you?). The US disc, a PAL-to-NTSC standards conversion, suffered from severe ghosting, softness and some noticeable compression artefacts. The UK version uses a proper PAL master and as a result looks significantly better. Audio-wise, the UK release also gains a DTS track, although in actual practice this doesn't amount to a huge amount of difference when compared to the Dolby 5.1 track, but it's nice to see it included nonetheless.
The UK release has (in my opinion) weaker packaging, and it does miss out on Alias and Psy-Show, two of actor/writer/director Marina De Van's early short films, but overall I still favour the UK release, if only for the improved transfer.
