Individual Entry

A picture’s worth a thousand words, part deux

I recently discovered another web site with a library of direct Blu-ray disc captures, Cinema Squid. The layout is a little unwieldy in that there’s no dedicated index of titles that have been capped, but if you dig around you can find some fine work on offer. I was genuinely surprised to discover that, for example, The Other Boleyn Girl looked so perfect, and that Kung Fu Panda had been thrashed with the low-pass filter.

While I agree that the layout leaves something to be desired, an index of the screenshots can be found at on the image gallery page. When I add items, I make a note of it on my blog.

That reminds me that it's probably time do a couple more!

Generally speaking, I’d say what I miss most on the site is a dedicated list collecting all the discs that have screen captures on a single page. As it is, the image gallery runs to several pages which can make it difficult to get an immediate idea of exactly which titles have been capped. Other than that, I think the layout is absolutely fine and the amount of detail you provide in terms of disc specifications, not to mention links to reviews, is extremely useful.

Keep up the great work!
